ERB Upholds Legarda’s Transfer of Registration to Pandan, Antique

The Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Province of Antique has upheld the transfer of voter registration of Senator Loren Legarda in Pandan, Antique, declaring oppositions as “baseless and premature.”

 

On Wednesday, Legarda received the decision of the ERB Antique denying the oppositions filed by Atty. Robin P. Rubinos, Arnold Z. Sastrado, Erlinda C. Roquero and Felixberta B. Gumboc.

Inday Loren Encourages Antiqueño Youth to Value Education

Senator Loren Legarda has called on the youth of Antique to put in high regard the value of education and seize the opportunity to get a degree for free.

 

“As the year is about to end, state universities and colleges (SUCs), local state universities and colleges (LUCs), and state-run technical vocational institutions (TVIs) are starting to initiate entrance exams to college education. With Php40 Billion allocated for free college education nationwide, all Filipino college students may now avail of free tuition in all SUCs, LUCs, TVIs,” Legarda said.

Inday Loren: We Will Uplift Antique Thru Education, Healthcare, Livelihood

Senator Loren Legarda has declared her programs for her home province of Antique, saying that she will focus on giving Antiqueños access to quality education and healthcare, as well as more livelihood opportunities.

Inday Loren, a three-term senator who is running for representative of the lone district of Antique, made the statement as she led the turnover of her various projects for the province during a ceremony on Friday attended by more than 3,000 Antiqueños at the Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose.

Legarda Celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Month with Dayaw Season 6, Nat’l Arts and Crafts Fair

In celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Month this October, Senator Loren Legarda enjoins everyone to watch today the sixth season of Dayaw and to visit the second edition of the 2018 National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF).

The NACF opens today, October 25 until Sunday, October 28, at Megatrade Halls 1-3, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. It features 260 booths of local artisans and schools of living traditions (SLTs) representing all regions in the country. All 18 municipalities of Antique, Legarda’s home province, are also represented.

Legarda Enjoins Antiqueños to Conserve Northwest Panay Peninsula Park, Other Protected Areas

Senator Loren Legarda today enjoined her fellow Antiqueños as well as citizens of the Panay island to protect the region’s natural resources, especially its protected areas, such as the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NWPPNP).

Legarda, a staunch environmentalist and principal author of the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018 (ENIPAS) under Republic Act No. 11038, said that protected areas are critical in biodiversity conservation. Biodiversity is essential for human existence as it provides for the many goods and services we need, such as: clean air, fresh water and food products, as well as the many other products like timber and fiber.

Legarda Leads Groundbreaking of Aklan Tourism and Trade Center

Senator Loren Legarda today led the groundbreaking of the Aklan Tourism and Trade Investment and Promotions Center at the Aklan Provincial Capitol in Kalibo.

 

Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance who allotted the funds for the said project, stressed the importance of tourism and trade in spurring local economy and boosting rural livelihood.

Inday Loren: Antiqueños Can Avail of Free Medical Care

Loren Legarda today reminded her fellow Antiqueños to avail of the Medical Assistance to Indigent Patient Programs and underscored the importance of bringing accessible and affordable medical health coverage to her kasimanwa in Antique.

“The health of our people, especially those in the far-flung communities like my hometown in Antique deserves to be given priority, because this is one of the many rights of being a citizen in this country that is being neglected,” Legarda said.

Legarda Files COC for Antique Congressman

Senator Loren Legarda today filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for representative of the lone district of Antique.

 

On behalf of Legarda, who is at The Hague, Netherlands for the launch of the Ban Ki-moon and Bill Gates-led Global Commission on Adaptation where she is a Commissioner, Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao filed the Senator’s COC at the COMELEC Provincial Election Office in San Jose de Buenavista. Legarda is running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), her party for more than a decade now.

Legarda: Accelerate Adaptation Through Local Climate Action

Advocacy must be translated into local climate action, said Senator Loren Legarda as she stressed the need to capacitate local governments and communities to accelerate adaptation to climate change impacts.

At the launch of the Global Commission on Adaptation (GCA)—jointly headed by former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Bill Gates, and World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva—Legarda, who is one of the Commissioners along with more than 20 other leaders from around the globe, said that while national policies, financing and convergence across all sectors are needed to address climate change impacts, these should all translate to actual local action.
