Albay Gov Hails Legarda’s “Social Technocratism”

April 5, 2010

LEGAZPI –– ALBAY GOVERNOR JOEY SALCEDA TODAY LAUDED NP-NPC-LDP VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE LOREN LEGARDA FOR WHAT HE CALLS “SOCIAL TECHNOCRATISM” WHICH PUTS A PREMIUM ON A GOVERNMENT LEADER’S ABILITY TO REACH ALL SOCIAL CLASSES.
“We need a leader that can relate to people from all walks of life, a leader that can do social rebalancing. To me, Loren Legarda epitomizes this type of leader,” he said.
“Our farmers are our silent heroes. They feed the country, and yet they are the ones who go hungry. They deserve more support from the government and the private sector, especially at a time when the country faces drought and food scarcity,” she stressed.
Salceda added, “Public service and politics do not stop in the elections. Albay shares the same aspirations and social technocracies of Senator Legarda. Nakikita ko sa kanya ang image of a social technocrat. That is what the country needs, one who will address social problems, one who can reach everybody especially the poor and underprivileged.”
“Ang kailangan ng Pilipinas ay isang lider na sasagot sa problema ng lahat. Ang magpapatakbo ng gobyerno at dapat isang social technocrat,” he said.
Legarda, who is this year’s special guest at the Magayon Festival in Albay, transcended political boundaries with the endorsement of Salceda who is a member of Lakas-Kampi-CMD.
“I am grateful to Governor Salceda for inviting me to this festival. I commend the government of Albay for promoting and strengthening Philippine tourism through the Magayon Festival, as well intensifying your efforts at climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness. I salute you being an example of what an active local government should be,” she said.
