Legarda lauds PH participation at Ambiente trade show in Germany
January 29, 2024Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda lauded DESIGNPhilippines as a beautiful way to highlight Filipino artisanship and creativity as it opened its exhibit at the leading European trade show Ambiente in Messe Frankfurt, Germany, on January 26.
Legarda, regarded as a legislative champion of Filipino craftsmanship, supported the endeavor anew.
“We wish success to the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an attached corporation of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as the biggest delegation of the country has sent thus far will be showcasing the Filipino skill,” Legarda said.
“Once again, the country’s best and rising stars in the industry would be able to showcase the country’s creativity and culture through quality products that will last through the years,” she added.
The event will last from January 26 to 30, focusing on circular design, cautious use of resources, rediscoveries, and innovations as key inspirations.
A total of 40 accomplished and up-and-coming Pinoy brands will be featured in the event, the majority of which come from two partner artisan communities: Legarda’s home province of Antique and the province of Quirino.
There will be 10 Antiqueño local manufacturers of textiles, looms, and home decor, which was initially showcased in the Manila FAME 2023 endeavor.
On the other hand, Quirino will have 11 brands featuring bags, fossilized flowers, furniture, handmade decor, and wood carvings from their respective communities.
“The Philippines is no stranger to international recognition, and we are showing it again through this five-day event,” said Legarda.
“Through our help, we are able to showcase what makes the Filipino psyche unique in a way that could only be expressed through tangible art like this,” she added. (End)
