September 16, 2020

Through the support and initiative of Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative Loren Legarda to provide Antiqueños with job opportunities, another batch of beneficiaries will receive the Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (DOLE TUPAD) starting today, September 16, 2020.

“These challenging times have caused financial problems, especially to the marginalized sectors of our community. Many of our kasimanwa have lost their jobs, livelihood and sources of income, and having programs like the DOLE TUPAD will help cushion the effects of unemployment and poverty in the province. DOLE TUPAD is one of our important programs that provide assistance to our people in sustaining their needs amid this pandemic,” Legarda said.

DOLE Antique Field Office will start with the implementation of the fourth batch of TUPAD in various municipalities of Antique from September 16 to 25, 2020. A community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, TUPAD will be given out to 1,075 beneficiaries amounting to a total of Php4.25 million, which will include locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and sacadas from Negros island who have gone back home to the province.

“Through programs like TUPAD, we help address unemployment and promote rural development. As we empower our workers, who are the backbone of our economy, we are also working towards ending poverty in the province, “ Legarda said.

“We may be dealing with uncertainty in this pandemic, but we will not let this hinder our efforts to continuously provide for our kasimanwa and ensure that we meet their needs. We will work even harder to deliver and implement programs for our people for the betterment of their lives and their socio-economic condition, “Legarda concluded. #
