Senator Loren Legarda today graduated from the Command and General Staff Course, as part of Class 62, of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff College (AFPCGSC), which will qualify her for promotion to full-fledged colonel.
Legarda also received the Academic Excellence for Research for her paper “The AFP in the Humanitarian Space: Building Resilience, Fostering Resilient Communities,” which explores the role of the military not just in responding to disasters, but also in reducing climate and disaster risks.

Senator Loren Legarda today congratulated the Administration’s economic team as she welcomed the investment upgrade of the Philippines’ Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) from its 2013 rating of “BBB-” to “BBB” issued by the credit rating agency Fitch Ratings.
The new rating provides the country with a “stable” outlook, which means that the “upside and downside risks to the rating are balanced.”

Senator Loren Legarda is ready to sponsor treaties with the European Union, Germany and Sweden before the Senate goes on break next week.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, today conducted a hearing to discuss concurrence in the Philippines’ ratification to three treaties: the Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation Between the Philippines and the European Union (PH-EU PCA); the Agreement between the Republic of the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Germany on Social Security (PH-Germany SSA); and the Agreement on Social Security between the Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Sweden (PH-Sweden SSA).

In observance of Energy Consciousness Month, Senator Loren Legarda encouraged Filipinos to practise energy conservation measures to save on energy resources and as a way to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle.
“Energy conservation must be a way of life. It is economical and also environment-friendly. By practising energy conservation measures, we also contribute to reducing our carbon footprint, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation,” said Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change.
