Senator Loren Legarda today called on the youth to become more actively involved in climate change issues, noting that they have the greatest stake in the sustainability of the planet.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change and UNISDR Global Champion for Resilience, made the call during her keynote speech at the forum titled “The Green Scene: An Environment Action Forum”, which was organized by the San Beda College UNESCO Youth Club.
Senator Loren Legarda hailed the passage into law of the Integrated History Act of 2016, which mandates the integration of Filipino-Muslim and Indigenous Peoples history, culture, and identity in Philippine History subjects.
Senator Loren Legarda renewed her call to the government to update the nation’s development indicators to reflect the happiness and well-being of Filipinos.
Legarda, UNISDR Global Champion for Resilience, said improving quality of life goes beyond economic growth and should include equally important factors such as good governance, equitable and sustainable socio-economic development, environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and disaster resilience.
