Hinihikayat ni Senador Loren Legarda ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at lokal na unit ng gobyerno na ipatupad ang road sharing scheme sa Kalakhang Maynila upang mabawasan ang polusyon.
Sa isang special provision sa ating budget para sa 2016, nakasaad doon ang paglalaan ng pondo para sa road sharing activities.
Ayon kay Legarda, panahon na para wakasan ang car-centric approach kung saan naisasantabi ang mga sumasaky sa pampublikong sasakyan.

1.67B still intended for contraceptives – Legarda

MANILA – Sen. Loren Legarda clarified that the Department of Health (DOH) will still have an appropriation of P1.67 billlion intended for contraceptive purchases.

Earlier, Sec. Janette Garin revealed that the bicameral conference committee slashed P1 billion from DOH’s Family Health and Responsible Parenting (FHRP) program.

Legarda urges establishment of councils for the arts

Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, has introduced special provisions in the 2016 national budget that encourage the establishment of councils for the promotion of culture and the arts nationwide.

Legarda, who is also the chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Communities, said “We must continue to enrich our cultural activities and celebrations in different regions to remind us of the history and traditions of our towns and provinces.” She said providing support to cultural organizations and local artists in the form of grants-in-aid, technical assistance, networking opportunities and capacity-building initiatives through these Councils, are vital in marketing the country as a destination for cultural tourism.
