Legarda: We Need a Roadmap for Paris Agreement Implementation

Senator Loren Legarda today said the Paris Agreement on climate change will be mere ink on paper without a roadmap of what government agencies and the private sector must do to help achieve the goals of the treaty.

Speaking at the Tripartite Conference on the Philippine Roadmap for the Paris Accord at the Manila Hotel, Legarda said the Philippines’ accession to the Paris Agreement is a testament of the country’s strong commitment to work with the rest of the world in ensuring the survival of this generation and the generations to come, and the ability of the Earth to sustain life.

Legarda: Improve Productivity, Build Competitiveness Thru Innovation

Senator Loren Legarda today said that the government could improve the country’s productivity and increase competitiveness by adopting innovation as a vital component of development policies.

Legarda made the statement as the Senate has passed on third reading the proposed Philippine Innovation Act, which she principally authored.

Senate Unanimously Approves Expanded NIPAS Bill

On International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22), the Senate unanimously approved on third and final reading the proposed Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (ENIPAS) Act, which Senator Loren Legarda principally authored.

Legarda said, “I am glad that the Senate has approved this very important measure that would help ensure the sustainable use of our natural resources.”

Legarda Calls for Bolder Action to Protect PHL Biodiversity

In observance of the International Day of Biological Diversity (May 22), Senator Loren Legarda today urged the government to intensify efforts in protecting biodiversity by integrating biodiversity conservation into the country’s development policies and agenda, recognizing eco-tourism’s potential role in sustainable development.

Legarda Encourages Regular Visits to Museums

In celebration of International Museum Day (May 18), Senator Loren Legarda encouraged everyone to make frequent visits to museums to enrich understanding of our culture and history.

“Art and culture are food for the soul. It enriches our understanding of our tradition and history and promotes better understanding especially among Filipinos whose culture is very diverse,” said Legarda.
