Senator Loren Legarda today expressed concern over the safety of her kasimanwas after a magnitude 4.7 earthquake jolted the province at 7:45am on Monday. The epicenter was located at the province’s capital, San Jose de Buenavista, but was also felt in neighboring towns, including Iloilo City.
A minute later, another earthquake with magnitude 4.0 hit Sibunag, Guimaras, and was followed a few hours later by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Guimbal, Iloilo province.

Senator Loren Legarda today called on national and local officials to implement community-based early warning systems and other disaster risk reduction measures to save lives and mitigate damages from tsunamis and other disasters.
Legarda, Global Champion for Resilience of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), made the statement on World Tsunami Awareness Day, November 5, which aligns this year with the International Day for Disaster Reduction and the Sendai Seven Campaign focusing on Target “C” of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction aimed at reducing direct disaster economic loss in relation to GDP.

Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda has relaunched her “LOREN sa Bawat Barangay” project in her home province of Antique, featuring more and improved services.
LOREN, which means Livelihood Opportunities to Raise Employment Nationwide, was introduced by Legarda when she first ran during the 1998 senatorial elections, which she topped. Its aim is to consult various sectors of society and concerned local government agencies on how to create more employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the people.
