Senate Session Hall;On behalf of an estimated 3.4 million Filipinos domestic workers, working here and abroad, I have the honor to seek approval of Senate Resolution No. 816 under Committee Report No. 315, entitled: “Resolution Concurring in the Ratification of Convention 189, Convention Concerning Decent Work for Domestic Workers”, adopted by the International Labour Organization in June 2011, under the chairmanship of the Philippine Government.
“The SONA was a comprehensive, clear, targeted, and detailed outline of what has been accomplished due to policy reforms and priority projects of the administration. I am glad that measurable goals for the coming years were also mentioned, because now we will have a way to gauge how efficiently and effectively the administration has performed, and how gains can be sustained and how the targets can be achieved,”
“National security is the unifying theme in everything the government does, and should be among core considerations he must address. It straddles across governance, delivery of basic services, consistent and honest pursuit of sustainable development, and ensuring security not just in the national defense realm, but security for every Filipino inside and outside of his home,”
“THE RELEASE OF THE ASEAN STATEMENT ON ‘ASEAN’S SIX-POINT PRINCIPLES ON THE SOUTH CHINA SEA’ IS A CONSTRUCTIVE DEVELOPMENT THAT SHOULD BE WELCOMED BY ALL AS A SINCERE GESTURE TOWARDS PROGRESS,”
“It is apparent that the relocation sites can barely support the basic needs of our fellow Filipinos. They may have survived a disaster but they continue to suffer to this day. And those in evacuation centers may be faring even worse. I am deeply saddened that seven months after Sendong, 3,995 families are still living in evacuation centers,”
