SENATORS told officials on Thursday not to let certain idle airports in different parts of the country remain unused and instead work to generate economic activity and income from them.

Legarda meanwhile said that even without international aid, the Philippines should strive to reach the 70% reduction target.
“Government should encourage the business sector to invest in renewable energy instead of coal plants,” she said.
Senator Loren Legarda said that the national budget for next year and succeeding years, as well as the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), should be aligned with the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that the proposed P3.002-Trillion national budget for 2016 should be SDG-tagged to see if the national expenditure program (NEP) is aligned with the new set of global goals adopted by member-states of the United Nations.
