Senator Loren Legarda today said that President Benigno Aquino III has signed the 2016 national budget worth Php3.002 Trillion.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that she is proud of the work they have done for this budget which will be an instrument to building a resilient, sustainable and inclusive economy.
Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, today said that the proposed 2016 national budget includes provisions that promote green school buildings.
Legarda has introduced special provisions under the budget of the Department of Education (DepEd) that require the establishment of vegetable gardens, rainwater collection systems, and materials recovery facilities (MRF) in public schools.
Senator Loren Legarda today said that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will commence a nationwide coral restoration program next year after Congress has approved its funding.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said she introduced funding for the National Coral Restoration Program because “as an archipelagic nation with 240 million hectares of marine area, the protection of marine ecosystems, primarily through massive coral restoration, should be a priority of government.”
Senator Loren Legarda has pushed for strengthened measures in preserving Gabaldon school buildings and other heritage school buildings in the country through a special provision under the proposed 2016 national budget.
