Senator Loren Legarda today said that the government should expedite the process of ratification of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change for the country to benefit from the pact, which will take effect next month.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change and Global Champion for Resilience of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), made the statement after the threshold for entry into force of the Paris Agreement was achieved.
Senator Loren Legarda has called on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to oversee the immediate ratification of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Treaty and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change during the Senate hearing on the agency’s proposed budget for 2017.

In filing Senate Bill No. 387, Legarda proposed the creation of a cultural education program that will integrate arts and culture in the curricula for basic and tertiary education and technical-vocational courses.
