Senator Loren Legarda today stressed the importance of consolidating all water agencies in the country and crafting a roadmap for sustainable water use.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, made the statement as she convened with Environment Secretary Gina Lopez and Dr. Ernesto Ordoñez a meeting for the National Water Summit and drafting of a Water Sector Roadmap.

Senator Loren Legarda today stressed the importance of enhancing the resilience to disasters and climate change impacts of electric cooperatives in the country.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committees on Climate Change and Finance, made the statement during the committee hearing on the proposed Electric Cooperatives Disaster Management Fund under Senate Bill No. 1253 authored by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.

Legarda made the statement after the Ellen MacArthur Foundation released a report, titled “The New Plastics Economy: Rethinking the Future of Plastics”, which revealed that the world produced 20 times more plastic in 2014 (311 million tons) than in 1964 (15 million tons). At this rate, the report said oceans are expected to contain more plastic than fish (by weight) by year 2050.
