Senator Loren Legarda today called on authorities to ensure that the poorest of our poor belonging to the most vulnerable and marginalized sectors of our country are provided with the necessary government interventions—that address their needs and support their aspirations—in order to achieve inclusive growth and eventually alleviate poverty.
Legarda made the statement today, October 17, 2017, in celebration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, with this year’s theme calling for all nations to end poverty towards a path of peaceful and inclusive societies.
In celebration of Museums and Galleries month, Senator Loren Legarda encouraged everyone to make frequent visits to museums to enrich people’s understanding of our culture and history.
Legarda, a staunch advocate of arts and culture promotion, said that museums are vessels of important historical knowledge and cultural heritage and they showcase the invaluable Filipino talent.
On World Food Day (October 16), Senator Loren Legarda stressed on the importance of providing the necessary support for agriculture, especially for small farmers, and the establishment of community vegetable gardens around the country to address hunger and malnutrition and achieve food security.
Senator Loren Legarda today expressed optimism on the continued cooperation between the Philippines and the European Union (EU), citing the long-standing partnership between the country and the European community since 1964.
“We value our bilateral relations with the EU and we expect this to be more robust especially with the impending concurrence of the Senate in the ratification of our Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with them,” said Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
