Legarda Lauds Masbate for its Coal-Free Policy

Venice, Italy – Senator Loren Legarda commends the province of Masbate for the issuance of a resolution banning the development and operation of coal-fired power plants making the province “coal-free”.

As chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, Legarda said Provincial Resolution No. 096-18 will help the province reduce harmful emissions, promote renewable energy, protect the environment and safeguard the health of its people.

Legarda welcomes Senate approval on Second Reading of Ombudsman Retirement Bill

Venice, Italy — Senator Loren Legarda welcomes the approval on Second Reading of Senate Bill No. 1762 which seeks to grant Ombudsman lawyers and prosecutors a comparable set of retirement benefits similarly granted by law to their counterparts in the judiciary and the prosecution service of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The bill approved yesterday by the Senate likewise includes in its coverage senior technical officials such as investigators and graft prevention officers, falling within the Salary Grade (SG) bracket from SG26 to SG29.

Senator Loren Legarda lauds the staging of the Philippine Pavilion in this year’s Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy which will feature the art and craftsmanship of Dr. Edson Cabalfin as curator.

“This year’s exhibition will emphasize the importance of architecture in building equitable, sustainable and inclusive societies, and it will be interesting to see how Dr. Cabalfin interpreted the effect of architecture in our daily lives, our community, and even in our past, present and future as a nation” Legarda said.
