Resolution Commending the Relevant National Government Agencies and Local Government Units for their Contributions in the Successful Hosting of the 31st Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum

Mr. President and esteemed colleagues, I stand before this august chamber with a profound sense of gratitude and pride as the Chairperson of the Drafting Committee of the recently concluded 31st Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum.

First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere thanks for the invaluable insights and wisdom of my esteemed co-chairperson, Representative Lorenz Defensor and alternate chairpersons, Senator Koko Pimentel and Senator JV Ejercito. Together, we navigated through complex issues, harnessed diverse perspectives, and worked tirelessly to ensure that the committee proceedings reflected the richness of our collective wisdom.

I also commend the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Senate Substantive Team, and the Climate Change Commission for their indispensable assistance and knowledgeable input. Their contributions played a vital role in the meticulous deliberation and successful passage of the ten resolutions that address crucial aspects of our global challenges. Through their dedication and expertise, we were able to craft and adopt resolutions that will contribute to the progress and well-being of our nations in the Asia Pacific region.

The Drafting Committee embarked on a journey that demanded diligence, open-mindedness, and a commitment to dialogue. Through our collaborative engagement, we successfully identified common ground among delegations, reflecting our shared commitments and aspirations on issues ranging from peace and security to climate change, combatting transnational crimes, education and culture, universal health coverage, human capital development, and the blue economy.

Once again, my utmost gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the Philippines’ hosting of the APPF 2023. Your dedication and commitment have been the driving force behind achieving our collective goals. As we reflect on the resolutions adopted, let us move forward with the confidence that the groundwork laid during this forum will pave the way for a more secure, sustainable, resilient, and progressive future for the Asia Pacific region.

I am truly humbled to have had the privilege of leading such a dedicated and talented team. Together, we have set a course for positive change, and I am confident that our shared commitment and contributions during this year’s APPF will continue to inspire progress in the Asia Pacific region.
