Thank you to the Angeles University Foundation for this chance to raise awareness on the challenges of air pollution and to strengthen our cooperation in implementing the Clean Air Act. I recognize the important work that you are doing to help raise the air quality standards of our country. Last Sunday, October 31st, after a year’s postponement due to the pandemic, the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) finally opened in Glasgow under the presidency of the United Kingdom. The clock is ticking. Climate change is now accelerating and this spells economic and financial disruption and destruction while leaving behind devastation for the world’s most climate vulnerable developing countries.
Climate change worsens what is already an increasingly difficult cost of capital challenges and it accentuates the fact that the maturity of private capital to vulnerable countries is also in short supply.
