MANILA, PHILIPPINES – THE MANILA ELECTRIC CO. (MERALCO) ON THURSDAY SAID ROTATING 1-HOUR BLACKOUTS WILL AFFECT PARTS OF METRO MANILA AND THE REST OF LUZON DUE TO AN EXPECTED SHORTFALL IN ENERGY SUPPLY.
Joe Zaldarriaga, external affairs manager of Meralco, said the rotating blackouts will start at 10 a.m. and last until 5 p.m.
“According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, the shortfall is only 245MW by 11 a.m. and 280MW by 2pm,” he told radio dzMM.
