This October, Senator Loren Legarda and the National Museum invite everyone to witness demonstrations of basket and mat weavers from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Regions as they showcase their techniques at the National Museum of Anthropology every Friday and Saturday of the month.
The first weaving demonstration starts on October 2 and 3, featuring Rosalie Rondilla, Rosalina Oblepias, Asteria Balasabas, and Guadalupe Acedo, all from Luisiana, Laguna, who will showcase pandan weaving, a specialty of their community.

Legarda Welcomes PHL’s Commitment to Reduce Carbon Emissions

CAAP: Only 41 of 82 PH airports operate commercially

SENATORS told officials on Thursday not to let certain idle airports in different parts of the country remain unused and instead work to generate economic activity and income from them.
At a hearing on the proposed 2016 budget of the Department of Transportation and Communications, Director General William Hotchkiss of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said his agency owns and operates 82 airports all over the country.

Philippine climate pledge hailed as ‘ambitious first step’

“I would have preferred our INDC to have some measure of non-conditionality since the aim in Paris is an ambitious climate deal,” said Legarda, who used to chair the Senate committee on environment.

Legarda meanwhile said that even without international aid, the Philippines should strive to reach the 70% reduction target.

“Government should encourage the business sector to invest in renewable energy instead of coal plants,” she said.
