Legarda: Uphold Human Rights through Climate Justice

In observance of the International Human Rights Day (December 10) and the anniversary of the adoption of the Paris Agreement (December 12), Senator Loren Legarda expressed how important it is for the Philippines, which remains to be one of the highly vulnerable countries to climate change, to pursue climate justice in the international arena for the millions of Filipinos whose basic human rights are curtailed because of prevailing climate change risks and impacts.

Legarda Ready to Sponsor PH-EU Cooperation Agreement, Social Security Treaties with Sweden, Germany

Senator Loren Legarda is ready to sponsor treaties with the European Union, Germany and Sweden before the Senate goes on break next week.

Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, today conducted a hearing to discuss concurrence in the Philippines’ ratification to three treaties: the Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation Between the Philippines and the European Union (PH-EU PCA); the Agreement between the Republic of the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Germany on Social Security (PH-Germany SSA); and the Agreement on Social Security between the Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Sweden (PH-Sweden SSA).

Legarda Encourages Energy Conservation Practices

In observance of Energy Consciousness Month, Senator Loren Legarda encouraged Filipinos to practise energy conservation measures to save on energy resources and as a way to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle.

“Energy conservation must be a way of life. It is economical and also environment-friendly. By practising energy conservation measures, we also contribute to reducing our carbon footprint, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation,” said Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change.
