Senator Loren Legarda today said that farmers will continue to receive government support under the 2018 national budget through the subsidy of irrigation service fees to the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).
“As in the previous year, we will continue to subsidize this year the irrigation service fees, which, in the past, had been a burden to our farmers. We are an agricultural country and it is only proper that we continue extending the necessary assistance to our farmers, especially for irrigation services that are integral in maintaining our lands fertile and producing bountiful harvest,” Legarda said.

As the treaty-ratifying body, the Senate committee on foreign relations recommended for concurrence on these three treaties, the common denominator of which revolve around the interest and welfare of close to one million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). This fact was underscored by Senator Loren Legarda as the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations that shepherded the approval of these agreements as beneficial to Filipinos and the country. The EU countries are home to an estimated 700,000 to 800,000 overseas Filipinos. The largest Filipino communities live and work in Italy, the United Kingdom (UK), and Greece.

Lawmakers from 27 countries have adopted a Philippine-sponsored resolution on climate and disaster resilience at the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) in Hanoi, Vietnam, Senator Loren Legarda said on Sunday.
Legarda, Head of the Philippine delegation, authored the “Resolution Calling for Regional Cooperation on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (CCAM),” which was adopted as APPF26 Resolution No. 10.
