Legarda welcomes NAIA-Antique PAL flight to bring home LSIs

Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda welcomed the news that Philippine Airlines (PAL) will fly to Antique Airport via Ninoy Aquino International Airport to bring home locally-stranded individuals (LSIs) while ensuring that the provincial government will monitor and coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and PAL for the strict implementation of health measures and safety protocols.

“As most parts of the country start to ease restrictions on movements, Antique Airport is ready to serve not just my kasimanwa who wish to come home or fly back to Manila for work and attend to their respective businesses, but it will also accommodate those passengers from neighboring provinces. The flight will be from Manila to Antique and vice versa, which will be more convenient and accessible to most passengers,” Legarda said.

Legarda Calls for Mass Access to Mental Health Care Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

On the sixth episode of “Stories for a Better Normal: Pandemic and Climate Pathways,” with the topic, “Mental Health and Wellness: Coping in the Time of COVID-19 and Disasters”, House Deputy Speaker and Antique Representative Loren Legarda, together with resource speakers, discussed the importance of mental wellness as we cope in this time of COVID-19 and disasters.

Joining Legarda in the discussion were mental health experts Dr. Rene Samaniego, Former President of the Philippine Psychiatric Association; Dr. Jasmine Vergara, National Professional Officer on Mental Health and Substance Abuse of the World Health Organization – Philippines (WHO); and Prednison Morales, Psychosocial Support Focal Person and Registered Social Worker from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

Legarda Pushes For The Passage Of The Environment Protection And Enforcement Bureau (EPEB) Bill

Deputy Speaker and Antique Representative Loren Legarda filed House Bill No. 6973 which seeks to create the Environment Protection and Enforcement Bureau (EPEB) in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to strengthen the agency’s capacity to address violations against current environmental laws and regulations.
