Legarda Continues to Provide Assistance to Antique Fisherfolk

Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda continues to value the natural resources of Antique and the untiring labor of the Antiqueños as she brings to the province programs and assistance for sustainable livelihood in the fisheries sector.

“Antique has abundant marine resources. Majority of Antiqueños depend on the coastal biodiversity for their daily food consumption and for their income. Thus, we have to further aid the fisherfolk with programs and services to protect their livelihood and at the same time maintain food security in the province,” Legarda said.

Legarda Vows Continued Support for Higher Education in Antique

Deputy Speaker and Lone District of Antique Representative Loren Legarda has committed her full support for the uplifting of higher education in the province of Antique.

With her commitment to bring down the number of out-of-school youth further as well as to improve the quality of education in the province, Legarda continued to provide Antique with programs such as Tulong Dunong in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Antiqueño college students have been beneficiaries of the program since 2016 with over 19,000 scholars as of date under the allocations supported by Legarda. For the academic year 2019 to 2020, a total of 3,589 grantees were able to avail of the Tulong Dunong Program in Antique.

Legarda supports the convergence of DOST, DTI and University of Antique for more livelihood projects for Antiqueños

Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative Loren Legarda continues to empower local communities in her home province of Antique by providing more livelihood programs in convergence programs with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the University of Antique (UA).

“Antiqueños already have the skills and the raw materials can be gathered right within the community. All we have to do is to empower them and provide support to further develop livelihood and generate jobs to provide their families and communities alternative sources of income. Our continued collaboration with the DOST and the UA on nutrition programs and technology is one of the most effective programs that we have in support of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province,” Legarda said.
