Senator Loren Legarda called on agencies of the government to get their acts together in pursuing the mandate to protect overseas Filipinos. She was reacting to the contradictory positions taken by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Department of Foreign Affairs on the matter of issuing a deployment ban covering 41 countries.

Legarda Renews Call for Improved Water Governance

Senator Loren Legarda today renewed her call for improved water governance in the country.
Noting that President Benigno Aquino III has already asked the Inter-Agency Committee on the Water Sector to create a master plan on effective water management, Legarda said that the Inter-Agency Committee must harmonize water priorities-water supply, irrigation, power generation-with measures to avert flooding especially amid extreme weather events and particularly in areas with dams.
