Senator Loren Legarda today highlighted the country’s best environmental practices among hospitals as she expressed support to the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) Initiative promoted by Mr. Gary Cohen, the U.S. White House Champion of Change for Climate and Health.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, said that several hospitals in the country are undertaking safe and green practices that should be emulated by other hospitals and health care facilities.
In celebration of the 2013 International Day for Disaster Reduction, Senator Loren Legarda today announced the start of the search for the Philippines’ disaster-resilient communities.
Legarda, the United Nations Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation for Asia-Pacific, said that the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and the Senate Committee on Climate Change, together with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), are now accepting entries for the first Philippine Resilience Awards.

The Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, chaired by Senator Loren Legarda, has called for a briefing by the agencies involved in the rehabilitation of the Manila Bay as ordered by the Supreme Court.
