Gov’t investment forum to highlight sustainable agriculture opportunities

MANILA, Philippines – Opportunities in sustainable agriculture are set to be highlighted in an investment forum to be hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on February 11.
Carrying the theme “Conserving Biodiversity to Promote Inclusive Economic Growth”, the forum will be attended by Environment Secretary Ramon Paje, Senators Loren Legarda and Bam Aquino, United Nations Development Program Country Director Maurice Dewulf, as well chief executives of local government units (LGUs) and representatives of non-government organizations (NGOs).

Senate resolutions commend bravery of ‘Fallen 44’

FOUR senators have filed a resolution commending the “bravery and heroism” of 44 Special Action Force (SAF) slain in the Mamasapano, Maguindanao clashes.
On January 25, almost 400 SAF commandos were sent to Mamasapano to serve arrest warrants on Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, alias Marwan, who has links with Jemaah Islamiyah and Filipino bomb expert Basit Usman.
The troops killed Marwan but 44 SAF men were killed in a clash with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels.
