Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa ngayong Agosto, iginiit ni Senadora Loren Legarda ang pagpapahalaga hindi lamang sa Wikang Filipino ngunit pati na rin sa mga katutubong wika sa Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Legarda, mahalaga ang pagkakaroon ng malalim na pag-unawa at tamang paggamit ng Wikang Filipino sa pakikipag-ugnayan ng mga mamamayan sa isa’t isa, higit lalo sa mga usapin patungkol sa kaunlaran, kapayapaan at katarungan.

Senator Loren Legarda, a staunch supporter of arts and culture, commended Ligaya Fernando-Amilbangsa as a cultural advocate of pangalay, a traditional dance from Mindanao.
Legarda filed Senate Resolution 1527, citing Fernando-Amilbangsa as an instrumental figure in the continuation of pangalay which she has documented, studied, performed and preserved through scholarly writing and training of other pangalay dancers.

Senator Loren Legarda urged Filipinos to visit the exhibit titled The Vexed Contemporary, which was officially opened today at the Museum of Contemporary Art Design (MCAD) at De la Salle – College of Saint Benilde.
“I encourage everyone to visit the MCAD. Our bustling contemporary art scene, including the groundbreaking shows MCAD has done, benefits the nation with thought-provoking exhibits and concepts that open discussions on our national identity in the face of a dynamic global cultural landscape,” Legarda said.
