Mr. President,
Three weeks ago, Typhoon Lando (Koppu) battered Luzon provinces. It lingered over the country for a week, affecting more than three million citizens and causing damages to agriculture and infrastructure worth Php11 Billion.

Senator Loren Legarda urged the government, particularly agencies comprising the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), to use available disaster funds to prepare for up to three more typhoons expected to hit the country before the year ends.
Legarda, Chairperson of the Senate Committees on Finance and Climate Change, made the statement during the meeting she called for NDRRMC member agencies on Tuesday to discuss the issue of unutilized disaster funds.

The final episode of the TV documentary “Dayaw” titled “Parangal Sa Mga Ninuno” narrates the many ways Filipinos can honor their ancestors.
It opens with a segment on the 2015 Dayaw Festival. It is a national gathering of indigenous peoples organized annually by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to celebrate cultural diversity and promote continuity.
He was a man who valued work and the workers. He was a champion of our nation’s laborers, one who cared for the rights and well-being of the millions of Filipinos who toil to keep the country running but who usually reap the least of its riches. As the general secretary and vice president of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines he stayed with the millions of workforce, a leader that stood up for their causes, while fighting for their rights and welfare.
It is heartening to note the attention that is being given now to the culture of our lumads. The awesome arts and crafts in gold of the tribal kingdoms dug up in old Butuan are on exhibit at the Asian Society Foundation Center in New York City, no less. Senator Lorna Regina “Loren” B. Legarda has launched her TV series on Dayaw featuring arts and crafts of the lumads.
