Senator Loren Legarda today stressed the importance of the sustainable management of the country’s forests and water resources so that both present and future generations would benefit from our natural resources.
Legarda, UNISDR Global Champion for Resilience, made the statement in celebration of the International Day of Forests (March 21) and World Water Day (March 22).
Senator Loren Legarda expressed her condolences to the family of former Senate President Pro-Tempore Leticia Ramos-Shahani and said that she was “one of the finest and most distinguished legislators we ever had.”
“I mourn the passing of former Senate President Pro-Tempore Leticia Ramos-Shahani, who was also an advocate of cultural preservation, environmental protection and women’s rights,” Legarda said.

On the second anniversary of the adoption of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (March 18), Senator Loren Legarda stressed the importance of dealing with climate change as a way to build disaster resilience.
