In time for the holiday season, Senator Loren Legarda urged Filipino families to prepare “slow food”—as an alternative to serving fast and processed food—in order to support local cuisines and traditional cooking, as well as the local businesses that comprise and imbibe the principles behind the slow food movement in the Philippines.
Senator Loren Legarda strongly condemned the killing of eight (8) Lumads including their chieftain, Datu Victor Danyan, in Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato last December 3 allegedly by military forces.
Legarda expressed outrage over the incident, noting reports that the victims were farmers who were harvesting their produce when the shooting happened.
On the third week of the docu-series Our Fragile Earth: Protected Areas of the Philippines, Senator Loren Legarda enjoins the public to watch the episode on the Camotes Island Mangrove Swamp Forest Reserve, which is described as a precious fortress in Central Visayas.
Senator Loren Legarda today said that the 2018 national budget, which was already signed by the President into law, will further boost progress for the more than 11 million farmers and fisherfolks in the country.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that the approved budget of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and attached agencies for next year is Php110.075 Billion, the 7th highest allocation in the 2018 budget.
