On the first day of 2019, Senator Inday Loren Legarda visited the Sibalom Public Market, one of the biggest markets in Antique, and expressed her intent to make it a center of local produce in the province.
Legarda herself was delighted to see all the fresh local produce in the market such as kamote, saba, spinach, squash and batwan, among many others.
Senator Loren Legarda today said that the President’s approval of the Joint Resolution extending the availability of the 2018 national budget will help respond to the needs of the people, especially those affected by calamities.
Joint Resolution No. 3, “Extending the Availability of the 2018 Appropriations for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) and Capital Outlay (CO) to December 31, 2019, Amending for the Purpose Section 61 of the General Provisions of Republic Act No. 10964, The General Appropriations Act of Fiscal Year 2018,” was approved by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on December 28, 2018.
Senator Inday Loren Legarda said that she will provide additional funding for the expansion of the Pagsapupo (Care) Center for the victims of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) in her home province of Antique.
Legarda funded the construction of the current VAWC Center in Barangay Uno, San Jose, Antique in 2010. For eight years now, the Pagsapupo Center has continuously served as a home for victims of domestic violence and rape, abandoned children, children of drug addicts, and other abused women and children.
After travelling to seven destinations abroad—London, Lisbon, Madrid, Washington D.C., New York City, Hawai’i, and Frankfurt—the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino Travelling Exhibition, featuring “Piña-Seda: Pineapple and Silk Cloths from the Tropics,” is home for three months.
“I encourage everyone to visit the exhibit to see what we have been showcasing to the world and to also appreciate our woven and embroidered fabrics made of pineapple and silk,” said Senator Loren Legarda, patron of the first permanent textile gallery at the National Museum.
