Senator Loren Legarda today said that the Senate has approved on second reading the proposed bill granting survivorship benefits to dependent children or surviving parents of deceased retired officials of constitutional offices.
Legarda, author of Senate Bill No. 1917, said that at present, Republic Act No. 10084 only provides benefits to the surviving legitimate spouse of the deceased retired officials of the Commission on Audit (COA), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and the Ombudsman.
The Senate today unanimously passed on third and final reading the 2019 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that the Senate is now ready to go to a bicameral meeting and will be waiting advice from the House of Representatives for a proposed schedule to reconcile the differences in their respective versions of the 2019 national budget.
In observance of National Zero Waste Month, Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda urged Antiqueños to adopt a zero waste lifestyle and wants all communities to practise Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) starting with barangays in San Jose de Buenavista.
Last January 14, 2019, through Legarda’s initiative, the Mother Earth Foundation led by Sonia Mendoza conducted ESWM workshop for barangay leaders and environmental officers of the Municipality of San Jose, which she envisions to be a model for proper waste segregation at source, composting and recycling.
Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda today joined calls for the conduct of peaceful and secure campaign and elections in the Province of Antique.
“I am one with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in calling for the conduct of safe and peaceful campaigning and elections,” said Legarda, who is running for Congressman of the Lone District of Antique.
Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, today said that the Senate will prioritize the passage of the proposed 2019 national budget when session resumes on Monday, January 14.
Legarda said that the Senate will continue to hold marathon sessions to ensure immediate approval of the 2019 budget.
