Senator Loren Legarda today met with Ms. Christiana Figueres, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and currently the Convenor of Mission 2020, to discuss ways how to further unlock investments to scale up clean and renewable energy development in the country and the world.
The health, education and livelihood of her kasimanwas have always been among the priorities of Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda, manifested through various projects such as the University of Antique (UA) Technology and Livelihood Support Hub (Techno Hub), a program under the Department of Science and Technology’s Community Empowerment through Science and Technology Program (DOST- CEST), which was funded in 2017 through Legarda’s initiative.
Following the signing of the bicameral conference committee report on the disagreeing provisions of the proposed 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the Senate ratified the said report during its session today, Friday.
Highlights of the Bicameral Conference Committee Report
On the Disagreeing Provisions on the 2019 General Appropriations Bill
8 February 2018
Mr. President,
After exhaustive deliberation and consultations with the House counterpart, this representation as Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance is honored to present, for this body’s approval, the highlights of the conference committee report on the disagreeing provisions on the 2019 General Appropriations Bill. Allow me to highlight the following provisions:
It’s a triple win for Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda, who is running as Congresswoman of Antique, as the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) today dismissed the disqualification case filed against her.
Earlier, the Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) of Pandan-Libertad-Caluya in Antique also dismissed the Petition for Exclusion filed against Legarda; while last October 2018, the Election Registration Board (ERB) of Pandan, Antique already upheld the transfer of voter registration of Legarda to Barangay Mag-aba in Pandan.
