If elected as Congresswoman of the lone district of Antique, Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda assured that her kasimanwas will continue to feel the improvement in their lives, as what is already happening in the province.
After increasing the chalk allowance of teachers in the past years, Senator Loren Legarda has now introduced a special allowance to public school teachers that they will receive under the 2019 national budget.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, initiated the allocation of additional P800 million under the Department of Education (DepEd) budget. The said allocation will be given to public school teachers, P1,000 per teacher, every World Teachers’ Day on October 5, as an incentive or honorarium.
Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda, who is running for Congresswoman of the lone district of Antique under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), today reiterated her vow that she will do everything to end poverty in her home province.
“When the campaign started, I have declared my intention to beat poverty in Antique. After going around the province in the past 42 days, my resolve to do so only got stronger. As I visited our towns and barangays, I saw the hardship and needs of our people; I heard the pleas of my kasimanwas. We cannot let the poor remain poor. We cannot let our province suffer while our neighbors are soaring,” said Legarda.
Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that the 2019 national budget continues to fund the increase in base pay of military and uniformed personnel in the government, which started in the 2018 budget.
Legarda said that under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has a total budget of P180 billion that includes funding for the increased base pay of the military. It also includes funding for additional allowance for Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU).
