Legarda Invites Everyone to 2019 Sikat Pinoy National Arts and Crafts Fair

Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda today invited everyone to attend the 2019 Sikat Pinoy National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF) to be held on October 24 to 27, 2019, at the Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

 

The NACF is a four-day fair organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP), in coordination with the Department’s Regional and Provincial Offices, and supported by the Office of Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda.

Legarda explores other areas of cooperation between PH and Ruhr University

In addition to the signing of an academic agreement with Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) and a lecture on the Introduction of the Piña-Seda, Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda also held a roundtable discussion last October 15 with the faculty and researchers of the German university on other possible areas of cooperation.

“I am hoping that these interactions will result in enhanced partnership between the Philippines and the University most especially in the areas of cultural and heritage preservation, biodiversity conservation, climate change and sustainable development, among many others,” Legarda said.

Legarda becomes first to lobby for PHL to be Guest-of-Honor Country in Frankfurt Book Fair

Frankfurt, Germany – On the occasion of the ongoing annual Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF), Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda once again lobbied for the Philippines to become a Guest-of-Honor (GOH) country in the prestigious book fair during her meeting with Dr. Juergen Boos, President and Chief Executive Officer of the FBF.

The former Senator first and persistently made such representation to the FBF Board during her prior meetings with Dr. Boos himself and Vice President Claudia Kaiser, when she invited these FBF officials to visit the Philippines these past years.

Legarda: PH govt should pursue cultural diplomacy through academic cooperation

Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda today urged the Philippine government through the Department of Foreign Affairs to further strengthen its cultural diplomacy program through more partnerships with leading academic institutions.

The former Senator expressed hope that the government will take advantage of such opportunities to enrich our own culture after the signing of an agreement between the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt and the Ruhr University Bochum, creating a Philippine studies program, which was held on 15 October 2019 in Bochum, Germany. The signing ceremony was attended by Consul General Evelyn D. Austria-Garia, Rector Professor Axel Schlömerich, Vice Rector Professor Dr. Komelia Freitag, Director for International Affairs Monika Sprung, Professor Roger Friedlein, and Vice Consul Mejilla Meuller.
