Deputy Speaker and Lone District of Antique Representative Loren Legarda continues to uplift the lives of many Antiqueños by ensuring that programs of the national government continue to reach the province and benefit her kasimanwa.
Among these programs are the Barangay Kabuhayan Skills Training Program (BKSTP), Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), and Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), all under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) benefitting over 10,000 Antiqueño trainees since 2016.
As the principal author of the Philippine Innovation Act, Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative Loren Legarda expressed that innovation and competitiveness should be mainstreamed as vital components of the country’s national development and sustainable economic growth.
“Innovation is a vital component of the country’s development policies. Thus, we have to mainstream innovation and competitiveness in all government programs. If implemented properly, this will help bolster active micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), produce a highly skilled workforce, and promote competitiveness through the use and adoption of technological advancements in our different industries and sectors,” Legarda said.
For the 11th episode of “Stories for a Better Normal: Pandemic and Climate Pathways,” with the topic on “Youth Climate Activism,” House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, together with fellow Pinoy Climate Reality Leaders, underscored the critical role of the youth in climate action and shared their insights and experiences on how they are leading climate initiatives before and during this pandemic.
