In commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan, Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda today paid tribute to the country’s modern-day heroes: doctors, nurses, health workers, policemen and members of the armed forces, teachers, the utility staff, those working in groceries and retail, food and cargo delivery drivers, fisherfolk and farmers, market vendors, journalists, security personnel, the OFWs, and the dedicated government workers, both at the national and local levels, who tirelessly continue to work in the frontlines during this health crisis.
Three-term Senator, now Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, filed a bill seeking to develop and implement an ecosystem and natural accounting system that applies to the Philippine environment, giving importance to the role, value, and impact of the country’s natural resources on the economy.
“For decades, the debate has been whether to choose economy over conservation of natural resources. This is a false dichotomy. The economy and all of society are fully and entirely dependent on natural resources—our natural capital that includes our forests, wetlands, and other ecosystems,” Legarda said.
“There should be no place for hate for or discrimination against any race in our world today. Instead, there should only be respect for human rights, dignity and equality among us.
