The Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act was enacted to establish 94 protected areas in the country and provide for the management of these sites. The law mandates the creation of a Protected Area Management Plan for each of the 94 areas, which will be executed by a Protected Area Management Board composed of local government units, environment officials, indigenous people representatives, academe, and civil society.
The People’s Survival Fund provides for long-term finance streams so as to enable the government to effectively address the problem of climate change. The PSF is an annual fund of Php 1 Billion intended for local government units (LGUs) and accredited local community organizations to implement climate change adaptation projects.
This law recognizes the importance of innovation in order to promote the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. This act established the National Innovation Council (NIC). The NIC is tasked to take action in all levels and areas of education, training, research and development towards promoting innovation and internationalization activities of MSMEs all over the country.
The Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act provides for free higher education in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs).
