Legarda: 612 GIPs in the Province of Antique to be hired by DOLE and DepEd

Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative announced today that the Department of Labor and Employment-Antique Field Office will hire interns to be deployed to all the 590 barangays and 22 Schools District in the Province of Antique to serve as “para teachers.”

Legarda: Pursue Sustainable Dev’t to Raise Quality of Life within ASEAN Region

Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda yesterday said that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) must be able to upgrade the management of common environmental resources in order to be socially and economically inclusive for the region’s people, especially for countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries whose main drivers of economies are based on natural resources.

Legarda made the statement at the ASEAN Forum on Sub-Regional Development, a virtual gathering of ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) Leaders, Mekong SOM Leaders, representatives of relevant agencies from ASEAN countries, representatives from the Mekong River Commission, the United Nations, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and stakeholders from various countries, held on July 14, 2020. The meeting was hosted by the Republic of Vietnam, being the Chair of ASEAN 2020.

MANILA, 2 July 2020 — On the seventh episode of “Stories for a Better Normal: Pandemic and Climate Pathways,” with the topic, “Saving Seeds and Growing with Nature,” House Deputy Speaker and Antique Representative Loren Legarda and experts shared the basics of permaculture and encouraged individuals and households to start saving their own seeds and grow food in a manner that heals nature.

Joining Legarda were permaculture practitioners and seed saving experts and enthusiasts, including Bert Peeters of the Philippine Permaculture Association; Jabez Flores of Permaculture Research PH; Rina Papio of Green Space Pilipinas; Karen Hizola of Global Seed Savers PH, and Dr. Blesilda Calub of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños.
