Legarda Reminds Gov’t, Public to be Prepared for Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’

Senator Loren Legarda today reminded government agencies, local government units (LGUs) and citizens to prepare for Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’, which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, September 12.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’ is expected to have maximum sustained winds of up to 210 kph and gustiness of up to 260 kph once it enters the PAR. It will be named Typhoon ‘Ompong’.

Legarda Hails Senate Approval of P1.16-B Supplemental Budget for Dengue Patients

Senator Loren Legarda hailed the Senate’s approval of the proposed Php1.16 Billion supplemental budget to fund medical assistance programs for dengue patients. The measure was passed on third and final reading with 18 affirmative votes.

“This measure will provide medical assistance for hospitalization and out-patient care services to all dengue patients, including those who received the Dengvaxia vaccine,” said Legarda, sponsor of the bill and Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.

The Epikong-Bayan ng Filipinas: Tradisyon, Lipunan, Inobasyon conference from August 30-31, 2018 at the National Museum of Natural History in Manila, is a collaborative project of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through Koro Bulakeño, in cooperation with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, and in partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines.

Legarda Bats for Strengthened Technical Cooperation with Other Nations

Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committees on Finance and Foreign Relations, today urged the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to continue strengthening technical cooperation with other nations.

 

During the briefing on the proposed 2019 budget of the DFA worth Php27.5 billion, Legarda asked the Department to check which countries the Philippines has technical cooperation agreements with and if these have been carried out.
