2019 Budget Funds PNP’s Emergency 911 Command Center – Legarda

February 19, 2019

Senator Loren Legarda today said that an additional budget was allocated for the Philippine National Police (PNP), under the Department of Interior and Local Government, for the construction of an Emergency 911 Command Center.

“The 2019 national budget includes the construction of an Emergency 911 Command Center, which will aid the PNP in giving timely response in cases of emergency and assist in facilitating its operations,” said Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.

The Emergency 911 Command Center will serve as the PNP’s coordinating center for emergency response and operations. Its establishment will enable the PNP to perform its duties efficiently as it will utilize advanced technology in monitoring and carrying out its operations.

It will also serve as a centralized hub where the PNP can gather and discuss critical information and coordinate with local government units and other agencies.

The 2019 national budhet also augments the PNP’s Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) to improve its delivery of services, which includes P59.839 million to provide the per capita cost of MOOE for additional policemen.

Likewise, additional capital outlay for both the PNP and the Bureau of Fire Protection have been provided for the purchase of motor vehicles and firefighting equipment and fire trucks, respectively.

“We support the funding needs of the police because we want the crime rate to go down so that we have safe communities. We want an efficient, well-equipped police force that can protect us,” Legarda concluded.
